A nice afternoon exploring! This trip included a ferry ride, Cup and Muffin, a stop at the local Alpaca Farm, and a darling little town on the water called Port Townsend.

Orcas Island, and Eastsound.

About an hour and a half north of Seattle, is a city called Anacortes. A sweet little town on the banks of Puget Sound. You can catch a ferry to Orcas Island from here, but don’t forget to admire the beautiful coastal homes along the way. This is a very desirable life style!

Make sure you check the ferry schedule because the four ferries that run between all the San Juan Islands, don’t always make the same runs. Your ferry ride is very beautiful, so I suggest you head to the upper deck and enjoy the views during this hour cruise. The cost is about $60.00 roundtrip for two people and a vehicle. Upon arriving to Orcas Island, you are greeted by a cute little sign of two Orca whales, this is the beginning of your adventure.

We spent the afternoon in a town called Eastsound. This is a must stop in your adventures. Its is exactly what you would expect to find out of a coastal town, shopping, coffee, books, ice cream, bakeries, restaurants, art galleries, and soooo many other things. Here are a few images that represents what I saw, I hope you enjoy.

After lunch and some site seeing in Eastsound, we ventured towards Mt Constitution. Along the way the park was filled with people camping and enjoying outdoor activities.

We enjoyed the steep and winding road that took us up Mt Constitution. It is the highest point of all the San Juan Islands, and is approximately 2,399 feet above sea level. After the 20 minutes drive to the top, there is a short hike up a small hill to the viewing area. If you feel up to the challenge, you can climb a look out tower for a less obstructed view. At the top, the views seem to go on forever. The cost for a day pass “Discovery Pass” is $10.00

A great adventure at Cape Flattery.

Cape Flattery is probably about five hours from downtown Seattle. This isn’t you regular drive on the freeway though, it consist of small towns, The Washington State Ferry, and pretty much one road that drives along next to The Straight of Juan de Fuca. There is a trail located on the Makah Indian Reservation that will take you to this beautiful destination. Make sure you come prepared though, there is a $10.00 charge for a recreational pass that is required. The trial is an easy hike, very scenic, and well maintained. This adventure is great for the entire family. For more information go to http://www.northolympic.com/capeflatterytrail/

Cedarbrook Farm and Herb Garden.

West of Seattle on the Olympic Peninsula is the small town of Sequim. (sk-wim) A ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston, and a drive by Port Gamble will get you to Sequim. Known for its Lavender Festival the third week of July every year, Sequim is a must stop. Cedarbrook Lavender and Herb Farm is the most darling little farm ever. The cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating, while overlooking fields of lavender. Did I mention how amazing it smells?
A fun afternoon in Poulsbo, WA.

What a great opportunity to live so close to this charming little fishing town. Poulsbo, WA is a joyful hour and a half from Downtown Seattle that includes a great ferry ride too. Its great little shops, and mom and pop restaurants just add the perfect amount of interest. This dog friendly community even puts food and water dishes out in front of most establishments for our furry little friends. Nestled on the waterfront, Poulsbo has something for everyone.
