• Alive in Seattle

This site is for new transplants, or ole Seattleites. Its filled with: Things to do, Places to go, and People to see, (in my opinion of course) in and around the Seattle area. I will try to provide actual facts and as many images as possible.

Now, let me tell you a little something about me. I'm new to the area, which make me perfect for this site. I will capture my latest adventures in and around Seattle and share what I find with you, this way you can go out and see them too. Ok, so somethings you may have already seen, but please don't rain on my parade-because I haven't.

    Thank You,
    Your latest transplant!!!

A taste of Paradise at Mt Rainier.

Paradise Lodge is approximately 5,400ft above sea level. Oh and did I mention it sits on Mt. Rainier!  The National Park service quote ” that Paradise is the snowiest place on Earth where snow is measured regularly.” It has been recorded at 1,122 inches of snow-thats a lot of snow!!!!!  The Paradise Inn was originally built in 1916 and houses 121 guest rooms, the dinning room, Tatoosh Café, and authentic Native American arts and crafts at the gift shop. However the lodge is only open during Spring and Summer so it books up fast. If you enjoying hiking, exploring, water falls, and other outdoor activities or just hanging out enjoying the amazing views of the top of Mt Rainier, this is the place to be.

The best ride in town…The Washington State Ferry.

There is absolutely no way you can visit the Seattle area without taking a ride on one of Washington’s State Ferry’s. Its fun for the entire family, with scenic views of Downtown, Mt Rainier, the Cascade Mountains, and The Olympic Peninsula. Most of the ferry’s run all day and all evening. With several decks for your viewing pleasure, you have your choice of staying in your car, standing outside on the upper deck, sitting inside maybe enjoying a snack from the cafe, or all of the above!! To get more information on Ferry schedules go to    http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/index.cfm

The Washington Coffee Hut

Everyone knows that Starbucks started here in Seattle, and most people are familiar with Seattle Best Coffee as well. However, did you know that Washington has an abundance of coffee huts?? Well let me tell you this, there is no shortage of coffee in the Pacific Northwest. These little drive up coffee huts are everywhere. They all have their own design and charm to tempt the locals to try their coffee. I have to confess, I found my favorite The Cup and Muffin in Kingston, on the Olympic Peninsula. The price is usually comparable to other coffee places, but the convenience of the drive up or walk up is something to be desired. I will continue to add to this post because there are coffee huts everywhere!!!! They are too cute to pass up, so If you want coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or just a cookie this is a quick and easy way to enjoy.
